Lisa Interferometer Sensitivity to Spacecraft Motion
A study has been performed to assess the sensitivity of the LISA interferometer to motion of the spacecraft (S/C) with respect to the proof mass. The results are presented as a functions of arm length and Fourier frequency. In addition different optical arrangements have been analysed and their effects on the cancellation of the spacecraft motion is discussed.
متن کاملDetailed Calculation of Test - Mass Charging in the LISA Mission
The electrostatic charging of the LISA test masses due to exposure of the spacecraft to energetic particles in the space environment has implications in the design and operation of the gravitational inertial sensors and can affect the quality of the science data. Robust predictions of charging rates and associated stochastic fluctuations are therefore required for the exposure scenarios expecte...
متن کاملExperimental demonstration of reduced tilt-to-length coupling by a two-lens imaging system.
The coupling between beam tilt and longitudinal path length readout in a setup representing a LISA test mass interferometer was reduced to below 2 µm/rad using a two lens imaging system. This was achieved by the use of a homodyne equal arm-length Mach-Zehnder interferometer and suppression of the dominating effects of higher order Gaussian modes and longitudinal actuator movement. The latter wa...
متن کاملOptimizing a Rotating Tilt Sensor for the LISA Torsion Pendulum
The Eöt-Wash group at the University of Washington has developed a torsion pendulum to investigate noise sources in the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) caused by small forces acting on its test masses. To ensure a high amount of accuracy in the torsion pendulum’s measurements, the platform upon which the pendulum rests must remain as level as possible. The use of a rotating tilt senso...
متن کاملTilt sensitivity of the two-grating interferometer.
Fringe formation in the two-grating interferometer is analyzed in the presence of a small parallelism error between the diffraction gratings assumed in the direction of grating shear. Our analysis shows that with partially coherent illumination, fringe contrast in the interference plane is reduced in the presence of nonzero grating tilt with the effect proportional to the grating tilt angle and...
